DIFFERENTIATION BETWEEN ALLERGIC AND NON-ALLERGIC RHINITIS IN CHILDREN WITH CHRONIC RHINITIS, ALLERGY CLINIC, PHRAMONGKUTKLAO HOSPITAL

Background: Chronic rhinitis in children is a common problem. Investigation to diagnose allergic (AR) using skin prick test for aeroallergens requires specialist doctor, which not simply performed primary health care facilities. Therefore, diagnosing patients with AR and non-allergic (NAR) based on clinical symptoms essential treatment planning. This study compared between NAR, comorbidities, disease severity, aeroallergen sensitization.
 Methods: A retrospective descriptive was conducted among participants aged 2-18 years chronic who were treated at the Department of Allergy Immunology, Division Pediatrics, Phramongkutklao Hospital, 2014 2018. The medical records reviewed symptoms, results, environmental data, severity according Allergic Rhinitis its Impact Asthma (ARIA) classification. If patient tested positive aeroallergen, allergist diagnosed AR. NAR characterized by same but negative test.
 Results: Three hundred seven included. Among these patients, 226 (73.6 %) categorized as AR, 81 (26.4%) NAR. group had higher percentage males than group. Nasal pruritus ocular more commonly found Regarding both groups similar snoring, sinusitis, asthma, atopic dermatitis. most Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (82.7%), farinae (81.4%), followed American cockroaches (38.1%), German (37.6%). Cat owners associated cat sensitization (OR =2.77; 95% CI = 1.27-5.88).
 Conclusions: In this study, proportion pruritus, or strongly supported house dust mites, cockroaches. Initial antihistamine other drugs can improve disease.
